Lakhta Tower 1,516 ft The Lakhta Tower in St Petersburg is the tallest building in Europe at 1,516 ft and serves as an educational and scientific complex as well sports and recreation facilities and an outdoor amphitheatre . The project was put on hold in 2010 due to the historical significance of the construction site and objections from UNESCO , and at the start of 2011 it was relocated to the Lakhta area 9.9km away . The box-shaped foundation of the tower also gained a Guinness World Record for the largest continuous concrete pour of concrete at 19,624 cubic meters over 49 hours .
