Solar and wind energy sources are gaining traction in the energy world, with many excited at the prospect of solar’ s theoretically inexhaustible power source and wind’ s potential for offshore infrastructure. However, solar can only harness the sun’ s energy for half of the day and wind, even at the best of times, can prove unpredictable.

Enter Google’ s partnership with Energy Dome. The deal serves as Google’ s first commercial long-duration energy storage deal, another valuable piece of its growing portfolio of advanced energy technologies, each one designed to further its goal to run its operations on 24 / 7 carbon-free energy by 2030.

The Dome can continuously dispatch energy for periods of eight to 24 hours, can be constructed anywhere in the world, has a durability estimate of more than 30 years and can dispatch power to a range of large energy users.
