Why shouldn’ t astronauts step out for an eight hour walk around the cosmos in style? There is, after all, little else to look at in space. The reason why, perhaps, commercial orbital station creator Axiom Space has teamed up with Prada to craft spacesuits for the first crewed Moon landing since 1972. The pair unveiled the Axiom Extravehicular Mobility Unit spacesuit in late 2024, drawing on Prada’ s expertise in raw materials and innovative design to create a suit capable of handling the extreme conditions of the lunar South Pole. They have now unveiled a high-performance, 3D-modelled inner layer worn beneath the suit built for thermal regulation, comfort and reliability during spacewalks. Talk about one giant leap for luxury.
