THE BRIEFING | ITINERARY

LEISURE

A WALK, run or cycle around Central Park is a must for me, partly because it’ s gorgeous, and partly because I need nature after spending a day in the concrete jungle of Manhattan.
Walking around West Village and Soho are also great ways to spend time, feeling the energy, getting bemused at people in a two-hour line for a free coffee or a poster.

Then there’ s the entertainment. The comedy club scene in New York is amazing, with many of the late night show hosts coming through to practice new material. I once saw John Oliver on a random weeknight at Stand Up NY.
You can also get on a last minute ticket buying app and see what’ s on that evening to score tickets to. I did, and booked to see John Legend at the Barclays Center only two hours before he took to the stage.
For a more relaxing few hours I also love just strolling down Broadway or hitting the various parks, starting from Bryant Park down to Union Square, where often there is an amazing singer performing, and Washington Square Park, where strangers crowd around tables and play chess. There are plenty of restaurants, bars and dessert places along the route too, from The Smith in NoMad to Max Brenner, a chocolate restaurant in Union Square.
