META IN COURT

US $ 567m

A New Mexico court has ordered Meta to pay US $ 567m in damages
After an already tumultuous year of layoffs and softened content moderation policies, Mark Zuckerberg has represented the tech giant in court on more than one occasion this year. Recently, Meta was ordered by a New Mexico Court to pay US $ 567m over its failure to protect young users against harmful online content. Another blow came when English and Welsh courts announced that Meta glasses would be banned from recording video during trials, with many referring to the technology as“ spyware”. These controversies are proving costly for the firm and may well reshape its entire commercial strategy and operational goals in the near future.
