AS AI BECOMES MORE ESTABLISHED across global industries, the race to optimise supply chains for mineral mining is faster than ever before. Now, governments and businesses are having to establish effective trade policy as they seek to strengthen infrastructure of vehicles, battery storage, energy technologies and data centres. Since 2022, partnerships between countries have been established to address supply chain challenges, most notably the EU-US Critical Minerals Agreement. The transatlantic policy is designed to strengthen minerals supply and compete with largescale economies like China, a country rapidly accelerating its silicon mining to expand its production of semiconductors for AI chips.
